Sunita Williams’ father, Deepak Pandya (6 December 1932 – 4 October 2020), hails from Jhulasan, Mehsana district in Gujarat. After completing his Intermediate Science (I.S.) at Gujarat University in 1953, he earned an M.D. in 1957 before moving to the United States to pursue further medical training. Deepak Pandya was a neuroanatomist (neuroanatomy is the study of the structure and organization of the nervous system) in the USA.

Sunita Williams’ father, Deepak Pandya married Slovene American Ursuline Bonnie Zalokar shortly after moving to the USA in 1957. Sunita Williams mother, Ursuline Bonnie Pandya was a Slovene-American.

Sunita Williams was born on 19 September 1965 in Euclid, Ohio, USA. She was the youngest of the 3 children of Deepak Pandya and Ursuline Bonnie Pandya. Sunita’s two elder siblings are Jai Thomas Pandya and Diana Ann Pandya.

Sunita Williams’ early education included graduating from Needham High School in 1983, then earning a Bachelor of Science in Physical Science from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1987, and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Florida Institute of Technology in 1995.

Sunita Williams Husband

Sunita Williams is married to Michael J. Williams, a federal marshal in Texas. Both of them had backgrounds in flying helicopters before embarking on their respective careers. The couple has been married for 20 years and has no children.
