Explanation: The Constituent Assembly met for the first time in New Delhi on 9 December 1946 in the Constitution Hall which later came to be known as the Central Hall of Parliament House. Dr. Sachchidananda Sinha was unanimously elected as provisional Chairman of the Constituent Assembly. In the 3rd meeting held on 11 December 1946, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected as permanent Chairman of the Constituent Assembly and Harendra Coomar Mookerjee as the assistant Chairman.
